Spirit of Desire

Spirit of Desire

TH – To Tanner from Daddy
1-29-99

A young boy,
Bouncing along.
Dancing to the beat
Of his own song.

Mind like a sponge,
Heart’s desire,
To please all he loves
To put out all fires.

Thriving on acceptance,
Living on attention.
Life is so simple
In spite of complexions.

Boys’ lives should resemble
Puppy dog tails,
His has had more of
The snips and snails.

Twinges of reality threaten,
Yet the spirit of desire,
Holds the fuels
That feed his fire.

Holding within
His little chest
Beats a heart so strong.
Could pass any test.

Daddies, Mommies,
Grampas, and Gramms,
Have much they could learn
From this little man.

Everything will work out,
As things always do…
Just love everyone,
And they will love you.

For when a young boy
Tries on another’s shoes,
He cannot fit anyone’s
Of this he already knows.

Young teacher, my son,
Young student, my spawn,
Your spirit of desire…
I want for my own.
