Angels In Flight
TH
7-9-97
Heart beating wildly,
Nostrils start to flare;
Face of crimson,
Lungs full of air.
Eyes fixed forward with
A determined dead stare,
All that are seen,
Are for whom you care.
Wings pumping madly,
Legs quiver and shake;
About to attempt flight…
There is a lot at stake.
Listen to that…
Angel’s voice in my ear,
“Talk to me baby,
That’s why I am here.”
Stop little world!
What’s that coming over me?
Speak to the angel;
How do I deserve thee?
Your words so tender.
Make my heart swell,
Just wanting to hear
Your feelings as well.
I’ve tried to take flight.
Like angels dare,
In walked you…
With an angel’s care.
I couldn’t stand the thought
Of a single feather breaking
Upon your wings
Mine in the making.
I know there’s no way
For me to take flight,
Without your words,
Without you in sight.
I wish you could
Let go of your fear,
Let go of your heart,
Draw me in near.
Angels like you
Fly on their own,
But they soar when loved.
This it is known.
I think I see it
In your sparkling eyes,
I think I hear it,
In heavenly sighs.
I only hope,
Your heart I can touch,
As you do mine
And make you feel as much.
I have no wings,
But I can fly,
With you in my heart
I can touch the sky.
